A Rajasthan man, who was out on bail in a 2017 case of rape with a minor, was arrested on Wednesday on the charges of raping a 3-year-old, police said.
He was produced before a court on Thursday and remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.
Police said Budhram Bavri, 20, of Gharsana village in Ganganagar district was caught by locals on Wednesday evening while he was sexually assaulting the 3-year-old daughter of a man who works on a brick kiln.
Gharsana police station SHO Vikram Singh Chouhan said the man had been booked for rape and sexual assault under different sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The officer said his age according to the documents was 20 but police will get it medically verified.
In the FIR, the girl’s father said his daughter was playing near the kiln when she suddenly disappeared. When people started searching for her, they heard her cries and caught the accused sexually assaulting her.
Police said Bavri was earlier arrested on December 1, 2017 on the charges of raping a 10-year-old. He was in jail and was released on bail on March 12.
