Writes to Modi on Aero India show
The demand against shifting the Aero India show from Bengaluru to Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh gained intensity in Karnataka on Monday with Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy writing a letter in this regard to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Central authorities concerned.
The buzz around shifting the aero show to Lucknow also triggered a political slugfest with the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) coming under pressure to retain the prestigious event in Bengaluru as the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike adopted a resolution against shifting the event and the student community resorted to a signature campaign.
This resulted in State BJP leaders taking up a damage control exercise and declaring that they would convince the Centre against shifting the event out of Bengaluru.
Union Minister Ananth Kumar described reports on shifting the event as ‘rumours’.
“In case the event is shifted, I will take it up with the Centre. The next aero show will be held in Bengaluru,” he said.

Another Union Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda said he would personally take up the issue with the Central authorities concerned.
