2.       Telangana chief minister and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrashekar Rao described the formation of a non-Congress and non-BJP government at the Centre as his “mission”.
3.      “In this season of electoral alliances, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader KT Rama Rao met YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Wednesday in another sign of possible realignment of political forces ahead of 2019 polls. Updated: Jan 16, 2019 18:02 IST; Srinivasa Rao Apparasu: Hindustan Times, Hyderabad
4.      Rama Rao, son of Telangana chief minister and TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao, invited the YSR Congress chief to join KCR’s Federal Front during the two hour-long meeting at the latter’s Banjara Hills residence in Hyderabad.
5.      This is the first time that the leaders of the two parties have met since KCR floated the idea of Federal Front as an alternative to both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress.
6.      Addressing the media after the meeting, KTR said he had preliminary discussions with Jagan over the need to form a federal front of regional parties as there was a dire need of bringing in a qualitative change in the country’s politics.
7.      “For the last few months, our party president has been meeting leaders of various regional parties including Naveen Patnaik, Mamata Banerjee and others to evolve a consensus on the issue. Soon, he will also go to Andhra Pradesh to have detailed discussions with Jagan. He will invite Jagan into the proposed federal front,” KTR said.

8.      The TRS chief has already held talks with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, Janata Dal (Secular) leader HD Deve Gowda, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and DMK leader M.K. Stalin.
9.      Apparently, KCR has twin objectives in playing a role in Andhra politics. First, he wants to decimate the TDP in AP as well, as he had done in Telangana, to ensure that Naidu would not succeed in his attempt to stitch up a grand alliance at the national level.
10.  Secondly, KCR wants to ensure the victory of YSRCP and bring it into federal front front. If YSRC can get 15-20 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra and TRS 15 seats in Telangana, the Telugu states with 30-35 seats could play a larger role at the national level”. HT

13.  Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) said after meeting West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee on Monday that he will soon come up with a concrete plan for a non-Congress, non-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre.
14.  The meeting came a day after the Telangana Rashtriya Samitichief met Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneshwar .“A political dialogue has started following election results in five states. Yesterday, I had a meeting with the Odisha chief minister and today I met Didi (as Banerjee is popularly known). Dialogues are on. We are trying to settle issues of mutual interest as well as national policies,” said Rao, standing next to Banerjee.
15.  His meeting with Didi lasted for over an hour. Rao described the formation of a non-Congress and non-BJP government at the Centre as his “mission”. Her meeting with Rao came three days after NC leader Farooq Abdullah met her in Kolkata.
16.   KCR is scheduled to spend December 25-27 in New Delhi, where he will meet Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav. Banerjee herself has been pushing the cause of a federal front comprising regional powers as an alternative to Congress-led and BJP-led governments at the Centre. She is organising a rally of opposition parties rally at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata on January 19, 2019

17.   'Like-minded Parties Must Unite': KCR's Son Meets Jagan, Pushes for Federal Front: The move, however, does not come as a surprise. KCR and KTR have hinted in the past that they're open to working with opposition leaders in Andhra Pradesh to defeat chief minister Chandrababu Naidu: Rishika Sadam | CNN-News18;Updated:January 16, 2019, 2:43 PM IST
18.   Hyderabad: Stressing that like-minded parties must unite for Federal Front, K Chandrashekar Rao's son and Telangana Rashtra Samithi president KT Rama Rao met YSRCP's Jagan Mohan Reddy here on Wednesday. He said that the two also spoke to Karnataka CM H D Kumaraswamy and former Chhattisgarh CM Ajit Jogi in this regard.
19.  Sources told CNN-News18 that the CM had directed a four-member team as the party attempts to gather more regional satraps for its Federal Front team.
20.   Apart from KTR, the team consists of B Vinod Kumar, Member of Parliament, and other senior leaders from TRS such as Palla Rajeshwar Reddy. The meeting took place at Lotus Pond, Jagan's residence in the city. This is the first direct meeting between both the parties.
21.   The move, however, does not come as a surprise. KCR and KTR have hinted in the past that they're open to working with opposition leaders in Andhra Pradesh to defeat chief minister Chandrababu Naidu in the upcoming assembly elections in the state.
22.   Wednesday's meeting could also focus on both the teams working together for the elections in Andhra Pradesh. There have been subtle hints from Jagan also on working with KCR.
23.   "They are 17 and we are 25 MPs and together we are about 42. That's a sufficient number to put pressure at the Centre and can be a game changer," Jagan told media last week during his Padhayatra, when asked if he would seek support from KCR in his fight for Special Status for Andhra Pradesh.
24.   After a thumping victory in the recent elections in the state, KCR had said that his focus will now be the national politics. In his recent tour for the Federal Front push, KCR had met Mamata Banerjee, Naveen Patnaik, Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati.
25.   However, it is still unclear as of how many of them are on board with the Telangana chief for his alternative front”. NEWS 18
