India on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 shared with Pakistan the coordinates of the crossing point of the proposed Kartarpur corridor which will link Baba Nanak village in Punjab to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Narowal in Pakistan.
3.
India has also proposed two dates—February 26 and March 7, 2019—for a Pakistan delegation to visit New Delhi to discuss and decide the finer details.
4.
Pakistan said on Monday it shared a draft agreement on the Kartarpur Corridor with India and invited New Delhi to urgently send a delegation to Islamabad to negotiate and finalise the proposal.
5.
Both sides are yet to finalise the modalities of travel of the Indian pilgrims to the Gurudwara.
6.
The MEA said it has proposed two sets of dates for the visit by the Pakistani delegation here so that the Indian pilgrims can visit the holy Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib using the corridor at the "earliest".
7.
"Pursuant to the decision taken by the government of India on November 22, 2018, to expeditiously realise the long pending proposal to establish Kartarpur corridor, India has today shared the coordinates of the zero point (crossing point) of the corridor along the International Border with Pakistan," the MEA said.
8.
Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu and Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on November 26 last year laid the foundation stone of the Kartarpur corridor in Gurdaspur district.
9.
Two days later on November 28, 2018 Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan laid the foundation stone of the corridor at Narowal, 125 km from Lahore.
10.
The decision to build the corridor—from Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur district to the international border—was taken by the Union Cabinet on November 22. 2018: The corridor was a long-pending demand of Sikhs. 11.  Kartarpur corridor on course: Rajnath; Last updated: Jan 23, 2019, 6:59 AM (IST): Inaugurates upgraded spectators’ gallery at Wagah; lays stone of BSF housing complex: Tribune News Service; Attari, January 22, 2019: https://www.tribuneindia.com/news/punjab/kartarpur-corridor-on-course-rajnath/717820.html

India shares with Pak coordinates of crossing point of the Kartarpur corridor: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday stated that he had reviewed the progress of Kartarpur corridor and directed the departments concerned to get it completed in a time-bound manner. He said the process was on to acquire land, but refrained from saying anything when asked if the corridor would help improve ties between the two nations.
13.
The minister was here to inaugurate the upgraded spectators’ gallery at the Attari-Wagah border. He witnessed the Retreat ceremony and interacted with BSF jawans.
14.
The spectators’ gallery had been operational for the past five months with its expanded version. Awaiting a formal inauguration, the gallery was scheduled to be opened on September 26, 2018, by the then Director General (DG) of the BSF, KK Sharma, but the event was postponed.
15.
Rajnath was unable to give a reply when asked about the progress of full-body truck scanner, which has been in a limbo for the past several years at the ICP, Attari. Costing around Rs 23 crore, the full-body 22-wheel truck scanner was announced by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiran Rijiju on March 22, 2017, but the project missed several deadlines.
16.
The equipment was needed to check drug peddling or smuggling of gold or other material coming from across the border. Ironically, the checking is done manually with the assistance of sniffer dogs. When asked, he said: “It is expected to be done within three months.”
17.
The minister also laid the foundation of a housing complex of 300 units for BSF personnel and unveiled the business-related infrastructure at the Integrated Check Post (ICP), Attari, a gateway to bilateral trade between India, Pakistan and Afghanistan.  “We have made it mandatory to have a housing complex for BSF jawans in all ICPs,” he said.
