CHANDIGARH, Punjab—
IG Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, who heads the Special Investigation Team constituted to probe Kotkapura and Behbal Klan firing incidents, today interacted with the media after the arrest of Ex-SSP Moga Charanjit Sharma. He told the media that Charanjit Sharma was in a bid to flee abroad so the Punjab police arrested him during the wee hours today.

Sharing the details, he informed that they had given a chance to present his side by serving summon to Ex-SSP Moga Charanjit Sharma on January 25 but he didn’t receive the summon and went out of reach.
“Meanwhile, we came to know Charanjit Sharma already has visas for the USA, Canada and England, and he was trying to book Air ticket so that he could flee abroad” he added.
“Charanjit Sharma even tried to escape during the police raid by crossing boundary wall, but he couldn’t succeed due to strong besieging” said IG Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh.
He also said that the SIT possesses solid evidences against Charanjit Sharma about his irresponsible role in Kotkapura and Behbal Klan firing incidents which will be presented to the Court.
It is pertinent to note here that Ex-SSP Moga Charanjit Sharma was booked under section 302 of the IPC in Bajakhana police station.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the police also conducted a raid on the house of Ex-SHO Amarjit Singh but he couldn’t be arrested. His family members told the police that Amarjit Singh went out of home yesterday and didn’t come back.
