Notably, there was a widespread wrath among the Sikh community after the move had come to fore.

SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal and chief secretary Dr. Roop Singh has welcomed the move by saying that there is no legislation for idol worship in Sikhism.
Longowal has said that the SGPC would aware the common masses about the Sikh principles and traditions so that such incidents shouldn’t happen in the future.
Meanwhile, Dr. Roop Singh has informed that the devotees of Bhavnagar (Gujarat) have now decided to set up Sikh symbol Khanda in this square. He added that the SGPC was ready to offer every kind of help in installing the Sikh symbol Khanda there, if the Sikh sangat of Bhavnagar demanded.
