In a press note shared with Sikh24, the SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal has said that it seems like these firms are intentionally doing such activities due to which the SGPC has decided to take strict action against them.
“Earlier, the Amazon had hurt Sikh sentiments by misusing the portrait of Sri Harmandir Sahib in a disrespectful manner, but later the Amazon authorities had apologized on being served notice by the SGPC,” he said while adding that Sikhs believe in only one Almighty Lord and there is no room for idol worship in Sikhism.
Longowal has informed that the SGPC has served legal notices to these firms and if still these retailing firms don’t stop selling these idols, then the SGPC would lodge criminal complaint against them.
He has also appealed the Sikh sangat to counter these anti-Sikhism activities and not to purchase the idols being sold by these retailing giants.
