6.      He, however, claimed that he had offered to resign as far back as December 2014 by writing to former party chief, Sonia Gandhi, where he had argued that younger leaders should take charge of party affairs.

9.      He said he respected Rahul Gandhi’s decision to resign, adding, “Rahul Gandhi should have created an alternative mechanism to take the process of selection of the new party chief forward. A gap was left. That was not correct.”
