Notably, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had filed a closure report in sacrilege cases on July 4 in three cases pertaining to the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
The attack was so brutal that the turbans of many Sikh protesters got ripped off and some of them even got seriously injured in this attack.Interacting with media on this occasion, one of the Sikh protesters Bhai Bagicha Singh Rttakhera informed that the police attacked them when they were taking out a peaceful protest march while citing the name of the Almighty Lord. “The Sikhs have been enduring state excesses since long, but we are not going to tolerate it anymore,” he added.
Our sole motive of taking out a march in Chandigarh was to express the resentment among Sikh community and we were going to conclude the march with submission of a memorandum. But, the Punjab government is intentionally projecting us in a negative light,” he added.
