24 Jul 2019 08:20 AM PDTNEW DELHI, India—In an attempt to robust its legal powers to oppress secessionist voices of minorities in India, the BJP led saffron Indian government today passed the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act Amendment Bill in the parliament. It is learnt that the new amendments in this draconian law will now empower the state tools to dub anyone as a terrorist.
While this amendment bill was being presented by the Indian home minister Amit Shah, most of the opposition including Congress, Trinamool Congress, and the Dravida Munnetra Kazagham staged walk out.
Eight opposition members, including Asaduddin Owaisi, chose to stay behind to oppose the Bill but their arguments got oppressed in front of the crowd of BJP and its ally members.
These parliament members termed the proposed changes in this act as very dangerous while portraying the possible misuse of it and its anti-constitutional nature.

Under the new amendments, individuals could be designated terrorists if they commit or participate, prepare, promote or are otherwise involved in acts of terrorism. An investigating officer will have to obtain the prior approval of the Director General of Police to seize properties connected with militant activities.
Investigations conducted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) officer need the approval of the agency’s Director General.
Investigation may be conducted by officers of the rank of Deputy Superintendent or Assistant Commissioner of Police or above.
The amendment also empowers NIA officers of the rank of inspector or above to investigate cases.

Comment:-    The Bar councils of every Dist. needs to constitute a comittee to prepare the list of such 'Terrorists'
