25 Jul 2019 07:06 AM PDTNEW DELHI, India—On July 24, the Delhi police dismissed two constables namely Pushpinder Shekhawat and Satya Prakash for brutally thrashing an auto-rickshaw Sikh driver Sarabjeet Singh and his minor son Balwant Singh near Mukherjee Nagar police station.
Notably, these two cops were earlier suspended on June 16.Sources have revealed that the order dismissing these two cops has been issued by the DCP, 1st Battalion Rakesh Kumar.
In an affidavit filed before the Delhi High Court bench of Justices D.N Patel and C. Hari on July 2, the Joint Commissioner Manish Aggarwal of Delhi police had said that the cops should have shown greater patience and professionalism instead of dragging the auto rickshaw driver and his minor son.
Even if it is granted that Sarabjeet Singh, a Sikh driver, and his son were extremely aggressive and did not get up to walk on their own in spite of several rounds of persuasion, it is felt that police personnel should have exhibited greater patience and professionalism instead of indulging in the impulsive professional conduct of dragging them in the manner as in the video”, the affidavit said.
It may be recalled here that a Sikh driver Sarabjeet Singh and his son Balwant Singh were brutally thrashed by the Delhi police cops on June 16. The video clips of this brutal thrashing had gone viral over social following which a sharp outrage had erupted among Sikh masses.
