As Jammu and Kashmir entered day four of a complete lockdown, the Supreme Court on Thursday, 8 August, refused urgent hearing of ML Sharma's plea against the abrogation of Article 370 in the state. The apex court also refused to urgently hear Tehseen Poonawalla's petition, seeking lifting of the lockdown in the Valley.
PM Narendra Modi is likely to address the nation on Thursday, 8 August, during which he is expected to explain the reasoning behind his government's decisions on abrogating special status to Jammu and Kashmir and splitting the state into two Union Territories, sources told PTI.
