Rajinikanth opposes Amit Shah’s call to accept Hindi as a national language

18 Sep 2019 08:00 AM PDTCHENNAI, Tami Nadu—The South Indian movie actor Rajinikanth has opposed the Indian Home Minister Amit Shah’s call of making Hindi, the national language of India. He has said that the concept of a common language was not possible in the country.
“If you will impose Hindi as a national language then not only Tamil Nadu instead all the southern won’t accept it,” he said while indicating a similar reaction from some north Indian states.
  “A common language not just for India, but any country is good for its unity and progress. Unfortunately, (one cannot) bring a common language in our country. So you cannot impose any language,” he told reporters at Chennai airport today.
