Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma asks Indian president Ram Nath Kovind to release 22 political Sikh prisoners

19 Sep 2019 08:57 PM PDTCHANDIGARH, Punjab—Damdami Taksal chief Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma, who also heads the Sant Samaj, has written a letter to the Indian President Ram Nath Kovind seeking release 22 Sikh prisoners on the eve of 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Baba Dhumma has urged the Indian President to use the powers available to him by under Article 72 of the Indian constitution to release these Sikh prisoners.
List sent by Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma contains names of the following political Sikh prisoners.

4.Bhai Daya Singh Lahoria
5.Bhai Lakhwinder Singh Lakha
6.Bhai Gurmeet Singh

8.Bhai Paramjit Singh Bheora
9.Bhai Subeg Singh
10.Bhai Nand Singh
11.Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana
12.Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara
13.Bhai Harnek Singh Bhapp
14.Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara

A copy of this letter has also been sent to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
It is pertinent to note here that most of these political Sikh prisoners have completed the mandatory terms of their life sentence while the remaining have also served approximately seven years in the Indian jails.
