Brochures covering the Sikh Turban, Sikhs and Scouts, History of Sikh Americans, Bullying of Sikh American Children, Sikhs in World Wars and the Sikh Genocide 1984 – 1998 were displayed and distributed.

The unique and historic book supported by the American Sikh Council ‘Bullying of Sikh American Children – Through the Eyes of a Sikh American High School Student’www.bullyingasikhamericanchildren.org was displayed. This book was even attested by President Barack Obama on April 29, 2016and currently in over 41 school districts across the eastern seaboard. Other books such as Another Aspect of the Gadar Movement: The Struggle for American Citizenship and Property Ownership, were displayed as resource tools which can be used by professional school counselors to help the rampant bullying and victimization of Sikh American children.

Many of the counselors stressed the need for more nuanced information about the Sikh experience and an increase in material being added into the state framework, in order to better serve the students.

Ms. Minotti stated, “I have attended the last three conferences, but your informational brochures really bring clarity and educate us, to do a better job in school environment!

The networking and the outcome of ASC’s collective work was a resounding success, and in order to sustain this ongoing effort ASC requests all the gurdwaras but especially member gurdwaras to continue and step up their support of these very important educational initiatives to help our next generation thrive for a better future.
