NEW DELHI (February 17, 2014)—In a TV interview after resigning as the Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal of Aam Aadmi Party provided clarification over fast track court for 1984 Sikh Genocide cases.  Kejriwal said that since 1984, both Congress and Bhartiya Janta Party have demanded a SIT (Special Investigation Team) however they have not carried out their promises.

“Establishing a SIT takes only 5 days, however neither BJP or Congress wanted to work for the rights of the Sikhs or other minorities,” said Kejriwal during the interview.  He further alleged that “both political parties have made a mockery of Sikh Human Rights.”

“After 1984 pogroms, NDA Government ruled for 6 years and BJP was in power for 5 years, however no SIT was established by either of the parties,” said Kejriwal.

Arvind Kejriwal resigned as the Chief Minister of Delhi after the much anticipated Lok Janpal Bill was not passed.  Leaders of Congress and BJP had joined hands together to refuse the bill.  Arvind Kejriwal is seeking reelections so his party could form Government with majority in Delhi.
