USA/ Ludhiana (February 06, 2010): In a newsletter circulated by Sikhs for Justice it is informed that Ed Towns, Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from New York’s 10th district has issued serious concern regarding denial of justice of victims of 1984 Sikh Genocide.
Recognizing November 1984 massacre of Sikhs as “Genocide” Ed Towns said amid thunderous applause “I want to join you in securing justice”, at the convention organized by Sikhs for Justice to demand punishment to perpetrators of Genocide of Sikhs in India in November 1984, informs newsletter.
The Congressman said, “Peace, justice, equality, respect for right to practice religion are the values we cherish and support. We have to get them (Government of India) to listen. I believe United States has the power to make them listen to the demand for justice. It is the duty of United States to preserve human rights around the globe”.The Congressman approved the resolution demanding country-wide enquiry into the Genocide of Sikhs in November 1984 and appended his signatures on the document which he said would be made a part of the Congressional record.
