JALANDHAR, Punjab (June 11, 2014)—The film Punjab 1984 addresses the tragedy of Punjab witnessed in the 1980′s, as well as family complications, disputes, and love. In the film, an old lady lives in a village which is the distance of a kilometer from the Indo-Pak border. She has been visiting police station for an entire year, sitting outside the whole day long. The name of the lady is Satwant Kaur. She is looking for her son who had gone out to work in the fields but never returned back home. As the story progresses, it causes tears to slide from the eyes and down the faces of the audience,” says singer and actor Diljit Singh Dosanjh regarding his new Punjabi film Punjab 1984.
In a press conference, he said the film is being released worldwide on June 27, 2014. He was accompanied by the entire team of the film on the occasion. Diljit declared the film to be his dream project and praised Anurag Singh, and the entire team for their hard work.
Bollywood celebrities Kiran Kher, Pawan Malhotra, Sonam Bajwa, Arun Bali, Rana Ranbir, Manav Vij, and Vishvas kini also play important roles in the film. Gunbir Singh Sidhu and Manmorad Sidhu are the film producers.
The story and script are written by Anurag Singh. The musical soundtrack has been released by Speed Records, and so far two songs ‘Rangroot and Channo have already been made public. The song Ammi Udeekdi is written by Diljit himself. The remaining songs are written by Veet Baljit, Jagveer Sohi, and Dr. Tajinder harjit. The Music directors are Nic Dhamu, Jatinder Shah, and Gurmoh.
