Op/Ed – Statements and Sentiments Expressed After Sajjan Kumar’s Acquittal
Giani Gurbachan Singh (Akal Takhat Sahib) requested Sikhs sitting in senior Government positions to do something about the wrongful acquittal of Sajjan Kumar. Without naming anyone in particular, Giani Gurbachan Singh asked Sikhs occupying high posts to “wake up” to put an end to this continued injustice towards the community.
Avtar Makkar (President SGPC): Labelled the court's decision of Sajjan Kumar's acquittal as unjust and unfortunate to the Sikh community. Makkar questioned the Indian judiciary system in denying justice to Sikhs.
Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma: The head of Damdami Taksal, Mehta, criticised the court's decision saying that it has been taken under the influence of the Central Congress Government. He stated that the acquittal of Sajjan Kumar has deeply hurt the sentiments of Sikhs.

Manjit Singh GK (DSGPC): Terming the acquittal of Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in 1984 pogrom case as unfortunate, the Delhi SAD leaders have stated that they were expecting justice this time and were sure that the verdict would be against Sajjan Kumar, but the court has failed them once again. They blamed the small courts and CBI for working under the pressure of Central Government.
Karnail Singh Peer Mohammed who came into news few days back due to his action of hurling a show at Special Judge relayed that he does not regret his action. He stated that his action was against the entire judicial system who has failed to give justice to Sikhs since the last 29 years.
