ASC denounces the disgraceful Khalistan Report by MacDonald Laurier Institute
A well-funded think tank such as the MacDonald Laurier Institute (MLI) out of Toronto, Canada published a 24-page report https://www.macdonaldlaurier.ca/mli-releases-khalistan-project-pakistan/ on September 9, 2020 titled, ‘Khalistan – A Project of Pakistan’.
The American Sikh Council (ASC) is shocked at this disgraceful publication which instead of being academically researched and balanced, is pure yellow journalism. It is sad that a retired journalist like Terry Milewksi seems to have become a mouthpiece of the Indian regime.

Even a cursory reading of the report put out by Terry Milewksi shows his shoddy journalism while he stoops to the level of base racism and extreme bias.
The American Sikh Council (ASC) endorses the very timely rebuttal put out on September 15, 2020 by academics  https://www.sikhscholarsresponse.com/ from across the spectrum which include Sikh and other scholars, seeking fairness and balance in this highly venomous report.
This is not the first time Canadian officials have tried to malign and defame legitimate advocacy by Sikh-Canadians. In December 2018 the Canadian government published a report of alleged Khalistani activism in Canada. The pushback from Sikh Canadians was instantaneous and eventually the government of Canada had to redact the unsubstantiated and damaging language, much to the dismay of the Indian regime.

The Canadian government needs to focus and keep tabs on right-wing Hindu organizations, such as Rise Canada https://risecanada.com/ and their activities, which slip under the radar.
The majority of the Indian media which has prostrated itself to the ruling regime for a long time, is always looking for sensational news especially cooked by western journalists to intimidate those minorities who are seeking redress to legitimate ongoing issues impacting their collective, such as the Sikhs.
The Indian regime through their intelligence agencies has created an army of cells solely to target the Sikhs and others who are willing to take a stand against institutional oppression. Hundreds of fake online news websites have been created to influence the public with the Indo-Hindu-Brahminic view. An alarming news report put out by none other than the BBC on Dec 16, 2019 https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-50749764  stated, “The coordinated network of 265 sites operates across 65 countries, according to a report by EU Disinfo Lab, a Brussels-based NGO. The researchers traced the websites to an Indian company, Srivastava Group.” The Srivastava Group is owned my Madi Sharma a Hindu-brahmin based out of the UK who is BJP/Modi disciple and a proxy of the Indian regime. Furthermore, the BBC reports, “The researchers then uncovered a vast network of English language fake sites serving India's lobbying interests.”
These hundreds of fake online news outlets by India, not only spread their malice through social media globally but also pick non-consequential news items by gas-lighting them to spread more negativity about the Sikh grievances.
A perfect example is a fake Indian news site with is the ‘Edmonton News Net’ https://www.edmontonnews.net/news/266357852/khalistan-a-project-nurtured-by-pakistan-says-canadian-think-tank with a very strange contact address https://www.edmontonnews.net/contact Mainstream Media Limited, P.O Box 10783, Manama, Bahrain; with their main office is located: Mainstream Media Limited, 3rd floor, 207 Regent Street, London, Greater London W1B 3HH, United Kingdom. Tel: +971 50 550 4147. This website while covering the recent news, adds its own flavor of further bias to an already skewed report. Very typical of Indian-Hindu fake-news reporting!
Furthermore, India’s main ruling party the BJP has an army of fake news broadcasters creating a mass disinformation campaign on the opposition, against Muslims, against Sikhs, against Dalits and anything that challenges the Brahminic hegemony. According to ‘The Atlantic’ April 1, 2019 https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2019/04/india-misinformation-election-fake-news/586123/ , “BJP Cyber Army 400+, a WhatsApp group whose five administrators include Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP’s information-technology division: “This Group is Nationalists Group With Hindu Warriors Working To Save Nation From Break India forces led politically by congress, communist and religiously by Modi……”
According to ‘The Federal’ https://thefederal.com/the-eighth-column/facebooks-lack-of-control-on-fake-news-hate-messages-lighting-the-matchstick/ on Aug 19, 2020, “The social media giant, in a statement, said that it took down about 687 Facebook pages and accounts linked to individuals associated with the IT cell of the Indian National Congress (INC), and 15 pages related to Indian IT firm Silver Touch, which operates for the BJP.”
The Indian foreign intelligence (RAW) has always specialized in disinformation campaigns against minorities and particularly those people who the ruling regime label as ‘troublesome’.

The long arms of the Indian regime reach the US and Canada comfortably and can influence journalists, think tanks and even countries in many unseen ways to promote their insidious agendas, of which there are many!
It behooves the Sikh Canadians and also the Sikh Americans to be on guard and vigilant at all times, as this onslaught of detrimental reporting will continue into the foreseeable future.
ASC President Dr. Gurdas Singh said, “This report is despicable and uncharacteristic of the MacDonald Laurier Institute, unless the Indian powerbrokers have influenced them. In that case it is a sad day for the great values that all Canadians hold dear to their heart. Canadians do not need a lesson on the patriotism of the Sikh-Canadians, as they know better!”
