Missing CCD Founder VG Siddhartha’s Body Recovered
IndiaThe Income Tax Department, on Tuesday, 30 July, said the authenticity of the note attributed to Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) chain owner-founder VG Siddhartha is "not known". In its statement, the I-T department added that the signature in the note that surfaced online does not tally with the ones in Siddhartha's annual reports.
Earlier, the tax department had said that they had acted as per law in their probe against Siddhartha, official sources told PTI.
Meanwhile, police confirmed that the note is genuine. The note, addressed to all the CCD employees, highlights Siddhartha's financial troubles and ‘failures’, and accuses tax authorities of harassment.
Siddhartha, who is the son-in-law of former Karnataka CM SM Krishna, went missing on 29 July. He was last seen getting out of his car near a bridge across the Nethravathi river in Mangaluru.
Police officials have launched search operations. The note surfaced online a few hours after Siddhartha went missing.
