1. Flood Toll Rises to 227, IMD Warns of More Heavy Rains
The southwest monsoon’s trail of destruction continued to claim lives across states including West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, with at least 227 reported dead in floods, lightning, and landslides around the country.

2. China Brings Up Kashmir, India Says Internal Matter
Foreign Minister S Jaishankar emphasised to China on Monday, 12 August, India's decision to revoke Article 370 was an internal matter and did not impact border negotiations with either China or Pakistan.
In his first official talks with Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi, Jaishankar also cautioned him that the "future of India-China relatIonship will depend on mutual sensitivity to each other's core concerns ... Properly managing differences is therefore vital." In a sign of how seriously India takes this approach, Jaishankar repeated these lines in his address at the China-India Media Forum today

4. RIL to Become Zero Net-Debt Company Within 18 Months: Mukesh Ambani Mukesh Ambani.
Reliance Industries CMD Mukesh Ambani has said that the corporate giant will become a “zero net-debt company” within the next 18 months. The statement comes as the billionaire chairman takes steps to deleverage the diversified conglomerate by striking partnerships with foreign investors in flagship refining and petrochemicals businesses, while looking to unlock value in retail and telecom arm.

6. Sombre Eid in Kashmir as Curbs Fuel Discontent

In Discovery channel’s, ‘Man Vs Wild with Bear Grylls and Prime Minister Modi’, broadcast on Monday night, he braved the rain and cold in the jungles of Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand.
Walking through the wild and taking a ride on a cold river in a makeshift boat were some of the things that Prime Minister Narendra Modi experienced as he teamed up with survivalist Bear Grylls to promote causes close to his heart - conservation of nature and cleanliness.

8. Tribals Made to Drink Urine in Custody, Four MP Policemen Suspended
