Remember and pray!
  For centuries, the month of December has been reminding us (the Sikhs) how Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji and his family along with his beloved khalsa sacrificed their lives without bending down before a powerful but brutal regime; today, we have become champions of freedom for all because of our ancestors’ unselfish bravery. I urge all of my Sikh brothers and sisters to pray for all and remember all our Martyrs.
       Blessed is the khalsa, and blessed is our Creator, who taught us to be His relentless devotees through His wondrous plays.
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੧ ॥  ਧਨਵੰਤਾ ਇਵ ਹੀ ਕਹੈ ਅਵਰੀ ਧਨ ਕਉ ਜਾਉ ॥
Salok mėhlā
1.  Ḏẖanvanṯā iv hī kahai avrī ḏẖan ka▫o jā▫o.
Sloka of First Nanak
In Essence; A wealthy person always says that he should go for more wealth;
       ਇਵ ਹੀ = ਇਉਂ ਹੀ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ। ਧਨ ਕਉ = ਧਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ। ਜਾਉ = ਜਾਉਂ, ਜਾਵਾਂ।
       ਧਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਸਦਾ) ਇਉਂ ਹੀ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰ ਧਨ ਕਮਾਣ ਲਈ ਜਾਵਾਂ।
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਨਿਰਧਨੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥
Nānak nirḏẖan ṯiṯ ḏin jiṯ ḏin visrai nā▫o. ||1||

Nanak will become poor the day he forgets Har.
       ਨਿਰਧਨੁ = ਕੰਗਾਲ। ਤਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ = ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਵਿਚ, ਉਸ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ। ਜਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ = ਜਿਸ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ (ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ ‘ਤਿਤੁ’ ਅਤੇ ‘ਜਿਤੁ
ਅਧਿਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਕ ਇਕ-ਵਚਨ ਹਨ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ ‘ਤਿਸੁ’ ਅਤੇ ‘ਜਿਸੁ’ ਤੋਂ) ॥੧॥
  ਪਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਕੰਗਾਲ (ਹੋਵੇਗਾ) ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਸਰੇਗਾ ॥੧॥
