KHADOOR SAHIB, Punjab—Addressing a conference to commemorate the Gurta Gaddi Diwas of Guru Angad  Ji at Khadoor Sahib on September 21, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee head Captain Amarinder Singh vowed to re-investigate the state-wide desecration incidents that occurred last year.
The conference was hosted by former legislator Ramanjit Singh Sikki who had resigned from the state assembly on October 18 in protest of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at village Bath of Khadoor Sahib constituency.
Holding the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) responsible for Punjab-wide desecration incidents, Captain Amarinder Singh said that the beadbi incidents were an attempt to polarize Punjab’s vote bank and spread panic among general masses.
“I won’t let the sacrifice made by MLA Ramanjit Singh Sikki go in vain and will take every suitable step to bring the desecration culprits to justice if Congress succeeds in 2017 assembly polls,” he added.
Captain Amarinder Singh informed that the nomination of Ramanjit Singh Sikki for assembly polls from Khadoor Sahib Constituency was almost final as the other claimants Pardeep Chopra and Gurdev Singh Bittu have withdrawn their applications.
“The list of candidates will be out as soon as Sonia Gandhi gets well,” he added.
MLA Rana Gurjit Singh, Amarinder Singh Raja Waring, former MLA (Khemkaran) Gurchet Bhullar, Sukhpal Singh Bhullar, Harminder Singh Gill, Dharamvir Agnihotri, Mamta Dutta and other Congress leaders also addressed the conference on this occasion.
