JALANDHAR—An incident of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib’s holy scripture has once again come into light in Jalandhar. The Holy ‘Angs’ of SGSS and another Hindu Scripture ‘The Bhagvad Geeta’ were found floating in a canal on Jalandhar-Kapurthala road near village Nahla.
A local Sikh named Prince Pal Singh noticed the torn ‘Angs’ of Sri Guru Granth Sahib floating in a distributary canal of ‘Bist-Doab’ on the outskirts of Jalandhar town. He informed other Sikhs about the tragedy and jumped into canal to take out the desecrated ‘Angs’.
Unconfirmed information reveals that three Holy Scriptures of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji have been desecrated.
Around 80 people gathered at the spot and tried to collect all the ‘Angs’ of the Holy Scripture. Prayers have also started at the spot. 15-20 youths entered the canal distributary to recover more angs.
As news of the incident spread, hundreds of people gathered at the Kapurthala cross-road in the city, raising slogans against the government. They demanded that perpetrators behind the incident be arrested at the earliest. Heavy police force has been deployed to prevent any untoward incident.
