Let us obey and follow Guru Granth Sahib

We all know that before breathing his last on 7 October 1708, Guru Gobind Singh Sahib had ordained:
“SABH SIKHAN KO HUKAM HAI, GURU MANIYO GRANTH”. Accordingly, all the Sikhs should obey and practice Gurbani enshrined therein. Thus, Kirtan or Kathaa is also required to be performed within all Gurduaras Sahib, and even during private Congregations when arranged by the Sikhs. Now under the influence of certain anti-Sikh elements, some Raagis start singing from Chritropakhyan especially chaupayee, which is neither mentioned in the Guru Granth Sahib nor written by Bhai Gurdas Jee or Bhai Nandlal Singh Jee.

 ਜਿਥੋਂ ਤਕ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਸਲਾਹ ਲੈਣ ਦੀ ਗਲ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਚੰਗੀ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ  ਜਿਉਣ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੁਛਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ,ਇਸੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਪਰਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ(ਗੁਰੂ),  ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਚ ਦਵਾਈਆਂ ਕਈ ਤਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਕਈ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਦਰੁਸਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਜੇ ਡਿਗਰੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਆਲੋਪੈਥੀ ਦੀ ਤੇ ਪੁਛਣ ਲਗ ਪਵੋ, ਲਤਾਂ ਬਾਹਾਂ ਚੜਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਿੰਡਾਂ ਵਿਚਬੈਠੇ ਡਾਕਟਰ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਕਿਥੇ ਭੇਜੇਗਾ, ਕੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ। ਅੰਨੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਹ ਪੁਛੋਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਰਾਹ ਦਸੇਗਾ। ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਇਸ ਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਯਕੀਨਕਰੇ ਕਿ ਜਾਤਾਂ ਪਾਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਬਣਾਈਆਂ ਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਢੋਲ, ਗਵਾਰ, ਸ਼ੂਦਰ, ਪਸ਼ੂ ਅਰ ਨਾਰੀ, ਇਹ ਸਭ ਤਾੜਨ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਤਾਂ ਐਸੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਇਹ ਆਸ ਰਖਣੀ ਕਿ " ਉਥੇ ਅਮਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੋਣੇ ਨੇ ਨਿਬੇੜੇ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਾਤ  ਪੁਛਣੀ' ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ। ਸੋ ਹਰ ਬੰਦਾ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਤੇ ਹਰ ਬੰਦੇ ਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਇਕ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ  ਗਲ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਪੁਛਿਆ ਕਿ ਭਾਊ ਮੈਂ ਬਸ ਸਟੈਂਡ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਵੇਂ ਜਾਵਾਂ? ਤਾਂ ਜਵਾਬ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ਬਸ ਸਟੈਂਡ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ , ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਛੇਤੀ ਉਤਰ ਤੇ ਰਿਕਸ਼ਾਫੜ। ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਚਲਦੀ ਬਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਾਹਲੀ ਕਾਹਲੀ ਉਤਰਿਆ ਤੇ ਰਿਕਸ਼ਾ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਬਸ ਸਟੈਂਡ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ। ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਗਲ ਦਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਇਹ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਬਸ, ਬਸ ਸਟੈਂਡ ਹੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਗਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਪਰਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਨ,ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕਿਤੇ ਵੀ ਧੋਖਾ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾ  ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਰਬ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਦਾ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਬੜੇ ਵਿਸਥਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਝਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਧਰਮ ਗੁਰੂ ਬੈਠੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿੰਨਾ ਦਾ ਲੋਹਾ ਸਿਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੰਨਣਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਗੈਰ ਸਿਖ ਵੀ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਨ। ਗੁਰੂ ਗਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਚ ਦਰਜ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਖੁਦ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਵੀ ਰਤੀ ਭਰ ਸ਼ਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।                                                                                                                            ਜਸਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ

Very good advice. I am sure that you may have also shared this message with other ASA Committee Members so that they too obey and follow “Shabd Guru” enshrined in the Guru Granth Sahib only. There is one Raagi, who at the end of Sukhmani Sahib Paath, starts singing ‘chaupayee’ from chritropakhyan before sharing Shabd from the Guru Granth Sahib.
Has he been instructed to do so or no one bothers about Kirtan guidelines mentioned in the Sikh Reht Maryada 1945? F Y I only as I am no body to interfere in the affairs of elected body.
