To Hold Accountable Those Who Committed Sikh Genocide
Since its inception in 2007, SFJ has taken several initiatives to internationalize and to hold accountable the culprits of 1984 Sikh Genocide.
In November 2014, with the efforts of SFJ, for the first time in 30 years, a hearing was conducted by Human Rights Officer Stenfano Sensi of the UN High Commission for Human Rights on the issue of November 1984 Sikh Genocide at the UN Headquarters In a two hour long hearing with UN representative, survivors Gurdeep Kaur and Jasbir Singh gave account of how they witnessed Congress leaders leading death squads carrying voter lists, police and Delhi administration turning a blind eye on the broad day light killing of Sikh men and rape of Sikh women after the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
On November 7, 2014, SFJ also submitted a report "November 1984 Sikh Genocide" to the UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon. The report carried details of the systematic, organized and deliberate killing of the Sikhs in 19 states of India, eyewash investigations by the successive governments, zero convictions and the failure of the Supreme Court to take cognizance of thousands of deaths during the first week of November 1984.
