USA: 64 year old Sikh man murdered in Tracy (California)
Posted: 28 Aug 2019 08:30 AM PDTTRACY, California (USA)—A 64 year old Sikh man named Paramjit Singh reportedly got murdered in Gretchen Talley Park in Tracy (California) on August 25. It is learnt that the assailant, whose identity couldn’t be established, repeatedly stabbed Paramjit Singh when he was on his evening walk in the park.
Although it is being speculated that it might be the incident of hate crime as the victim Sikh man was wearing a turban and was going to walk twice a day. However, the Police have not yet confirmed that it is an incident of hate crime.
“We can’t say what it was right now. We’re keeping all possibilities open. We have no information that would lead us to the motive of this crime. It is something that we can’t disprove at this time and we’re actively investigating all possibilities,” said Tracy Police Spokesperson Lt Trevin Freitas.
  Detectives say a passerby spotted the man bleeding on the ground and immediately called 911. Police have launched a homicide investigation.
   It is learnt that the police have sought community’s help in identifying the man who has been captured hopping a fence in the video and running away from the park around the time when the incident took place.
“We just need to figure out who that is, why they were in the area, what they may have seen and potentially any of their involvement in the incident,” said Tracy Police Spokesperson Lt Trevin Freitas.
  Harnek Singh Kang, the victim’s son-in-law, said Paramjit Singh immigrated to Tracy from India three years ago and was an active member of the Sikh community. “We feel very safe in the country, so whatever happened, this is unacceptable,” he said. The victim had two kids and three grandkids.
  The attack has left the neighborhood shaken. Neighbors said they are all deeply saddened by what happened.
